LIgHT-HEALS Interns Visit VelocityTX

The interns of our LIgHT-HEALS Integrated Summer Internship Program, offered by the HBond Foundation, spent the day at VelocityTX in San Antonio. Watching them move through that space reminded us, once again, why we built this program.

For many students, science begins in a classroom. At Velocity.TX, they saw something different. They experienced a place where ideas become innovations, discoveries become companies, and research becomes products and therapies that improve lives. They witnessed firsthand how science, entrepreneurship, and healthcare come together to solve real-world problems.

That is the purpose of LIgHT-HEALS. We are not simply teaching research methods or laboratory techniques. We are cultivating future leaders who understand that Leadership, Innovation, Healthcare, and Technology, together with Healthcare, Education, Academics, Leadership, and Science, are interconnected disciplines that drive meaningful change. Our goal is to help young people see themselves not only as scientists, but also as innovators, collaborators, and problem-solvers.

Our sincere appreciation to the outstanding team at VelocityTX for their warm hospitality and for providing our interns with an inspiring glimpse into the future of biomedical innovation and healthcare commercialization.

To our interns: never underestimate the significance of experiences like today. They broaden your perspective, challenge your assumptions, and remind you that your journey has already begun. You are not preparing to become part of the future of science and medicine; you are already helping shape it!
