About The Project

LIgHT-HEALS INTEGRATED SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The LIgHT-HEALS Integrated Summer Internship Program is an immersive experience for high school (Juniors and Seniors) and undergraduate students interested in STEM-ML (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, and Leadership) and research. Interns gain hands-on exposure to biomedical science and healthcare innovation through mentorship, real-world projects, and skill-building in critical thinking and communication.

Program Structure:

Hands-on Training in Genetics, Immunology, and Cancer Diagnosis
Interactive servant leadership modules (communication, professionalism, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and “patients/people first” decision-making)
Mentorship-driven capstone project leading to a manuscript submission for publication in an indexed journal
Firsthand exposure to innovation ecosystems through day-long site visits to leading organizations in AI, research hubs, biotech/device manufacturing, and healthcare innovation
Skill-building workshops in research methods, data literacy, scientific writing, and presentation (poster/slide/pitch)
Portfolio-ready deliverables (capstone report, presentation, and documented competencies/certificate)
